A separate transmit-receive probe comprises two crystal elements housed in the same housing and separated by an acoustic barrier. One of the elements is used to emit longitudinal sound waves and the other serves as a receiver. The inward inclination of these two elements relative to each other makes it possible to generate a V-shaped sound path in the inspected material. This simulated focusing improves the resolution in the focal area.
  • improved shallow depth resolution
  • no need for multiple delay lines for high temperature applications
  • good coupling on rough or curved surfaces
  • reduction of backscatter noise in coarse-grained or dispersion materials
  • combines the penetration capabilities of a low-frequency single-element probe with the shallow-depth resolution capabilities of a high-frequency single-element probe
  • profiling possible for adaptation to curved parts

Applications
  • measurement of residual wall thickness
  • corrosion/erosion control
  • inspection of weld overlap and coating adhesion quality
  • detection of porosity, inclusions, cracks and laminations in castings and forgings
  • detecting cracks in bolts and other cylindrical objects

Technical specifications
  • frequency: 5 MHz
  • crystal size: Ø 10 mm
  • use temperature: -10~+70°C
  • connector type: dual microdot
