This special version is suitable for accurately measuring the forces required to penetrate shot or cast concrete during the initial strength development phase of curing. It can be held by hand for measurements. For the subsequent calculation of the compressive strength of concrete (in the range 0.2MPa to 1.2 MPa), it is necessary to follow the procedure of EN ISO 14488-2 (Method A)

EN ISO 14488-2, main method A

This method is used to measure the force required to drive a needle of specified dimensions into shotcrete to a depth of 15mm +/- 2mm. The tester indicates the resistance force, from which an estimated compressive strength can be determined by means of a suitable conversion curve and attached as an appendix to the product instructions for use.
